Oxygen Plan joins Mayo Clinic accelerator

The Oxygen Plan Corp., also called O2, has become the newest tenant of the Mayo Clinic Business Accelerator.

The health technology company focuses on stress management, and has developed the “Stress Number” as a new metric to be included on health assessments.

Oxygen Plan has been working with the Mayo Clinic to develop a mobile app that measures a person’s stress; its Chief Science Officer Donald Williams will be based at the accelerator in Rochester while other employees remain at company headquarters in St. Louis Park.

The company’s goal is to help companies and workers get a better handle on stress levels, and find mitigation strategies before larger costs mount.

Under an agreement Oxygen Plan signed with Mayo Clinic Ventures, agreement, Mayo will provide clinical expertise to refine the Stress Number methodology and develop the mobile app.

As tenant of the accelerators, Oxygen Plan now has access to resources to help it grow, said Eric Lucas, CEO of The Oxygen Plan.

“We are truly honored to be a part of this community initiative and look forward to contributing to the growth of this regional ecosystem,” Lucas said.

The Mayo Clinic Business Accelerator provides collaborative space to foster entrepreneurs. It was founded by Rochester Area Economic Development Inc., city of Rochester, Mayo Clinic Treasury Services and Mayo Clinic Ventures.

The space encompasses more than 3,000 square feet within the skyway level of the Minnesota BioBusiness Center in Rochester. By bringing together like-minded entrepreneurs, investors and advisors, they’ve created an “ecosystem” for the Rochester community to share ideas, resources and expertise. This ecosystem, in turn, promotes local and regional economic development through new company creation and expansion.

“The Oxygen Plan is a great addition to our health-IT startup cluster,” said Xavier Frigola, Coordinator of the Mayo Clinic Business Accelerator.

“In leading our go-to-market strategy, it’s critical to identify local partners that can help us scale our business. The Mayo Clinic Business Accelerator provides numerous outlets for connecting with potential partners – this is an outstanding opportunity,” says Eitel Dannenfels, vice president of business development for The Oxygen Plan.
